About the Artist
Jiten Hazarika, a self-taught artist whose creative journey reflects a deep passion for visual storytelling and expression. Originally trained in Civil Engineering and having served in the Indian Army, he transitioned from a structured professional life to pursue his innate calling in art.
Hailing from a remote village, he began his artistic exploration using natural materials such as turmeric paste, later developing his skills independently across various mediums. His work is deeply influenced by his travels across India—from the Rann of Kutch to Kashmir and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands—where he engaged with diverse cultures, landscapes, and communities.
His art, broadly categorized as figurative abstraction, is known for its expressive rhythm, vibrant colour harmonies, and thoughtful composition. Rather than strict realism, he emphasizes interpretation and the joy of creation, capturing the essence of his subjects with sensitivity and individuality.
