Shri Ram V. Sutar (1925–2024), India’s most eminent sculptor is renowned for his monumental works that celebrate the nation’s history and identity. A recipient of the Padma Shri (1999) and Padma Bhushan (2016), his artistic legacy is defined by lifelike realism and a profound ability to capture the spirit of his subjects.
His most iconic creation, the Statue of Unity—the world’s tallest statue—stands as a testament to his mastery and vision. Over decades, he created numerous sculptures of national leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, many of which are installed across India and internationally.
